Virgin America owned, upset by anonymous ad
Jan 29, 2009 in Advertising
Apparently, Virgin Atlantic has a history of questionable advertisements that have landed them in a bit of trouble over the years. In response, an anonymous print was submitted to the popular ad blog, AdRants, with the tag line “Fly Virgin America” placed in the corner of a picture of the downed US Airways Airbus A320 which crashed into the Hudson River the other week.
Though the origins of the print remain unknown, AdRants decided to post it and is now being sued by the airline for: “complaint for trademark infringement, false designation of origin and false and deceptive advertising, trademark dilution, false and misleading statements, dilution in violation of California law, and defamation.”
