That Mitchell & Webb Look
Last night I fulfilled a life-long dream of mine: to be a part of a live studio audience.
After waiting outside the BBC Studios in Central London, the production team led the audience to the swanky BBC bar where we could exorcise our pre-viewing jitters with a drink. From there, we were ushered into the large, microphone-filled viewing room to check out the newest clips from one of England’s most popular sketch comedy shows, “That Mitchell & Webb Look.”
After a witty introduction from David Mitchell and Robert Webb, I sat with pride knowing full well I’d soon take part in one of television’s most sacred rituals. This was a distinct honor.
Having never even heard of Mitchell or Webb before, I really didn’t know what to expect and was a bit intimidated. Would my unrefined American sensibilities allow me to appreciate the intricacies of British humour? Fortunately, “The Mitchell & Webb Look” did not disappoint. Favorite sketch? Fake commercial offering cell-phone users a helpful “subtext message” option.
For American readers wondering what to expect, think Chappelle’s Show combined with the Whitest Kids U Know and sprinkled with a bit of Flight of the Conchords. If you’re still confused, click here.
