President-elect for the Olympics

Nov 28, 2008 in MISC

President-elect Barack Obama may be the next biggest thing in the sports world. His political status has helped him pull to have Chicago elected for the 2016 Olympic Games. Not only would this be monumental for our country to have the Olympics back again, but the amount of promotional money it would raise in the next eight years would severely help our economy. Broadcast fees alone would begin at $1.5 billion and both Fox and ESPN have already agreed to put down bids to cover the potential Chicago Olympics.

Obama spoke in a clip sent to the IOC to petition Chicago as the 2016 location for the Olympic Games.

That Mitchell & Webb Look

That Mitchell & Webb Look

Last night I fulfilled a life-long dream of mine: to be a part of a live studio audience.

After waiting outside the BBC Studios in Central London, the production team led the audience to the swanky BBC bar where we could exorcise our pre-viewing jitters with a drink. From there, we were ushered into the large, microphone-filled viewing room to check out the newest clips from one of England’s most popular sketch comedy shows, “That Mitchell & Webb Look.”

After a witty introduction from David Mitchell and Robert Webb, I sat with pride knowing full well I’d soon take part in one of television’s most sacred rituals. This was a distinct honor.

Having never even heard of Mitchell or Webb before, I really didn’t know what to expect and was a bit intimidated. Would my unrefined American sensibilities allow me to appreciate the intricacies of British humour? Fortunately, “The Mitchell & Webb Look” did not disappoint. Favorite sketch? Fake commercial offering cell-phone users a helpful “subtext message” option.

For American readers wondering what to expect, think Chappelle’s Show combined with the Whitest Kids U Know and sprinkled with a bit of Flight of the Conchords. If you’re still confused, click here.

Some Interesting Movie News

Nov 18, 2008 in MISC

I figured I could give some update to the movie business these days. There has been a lot of hype for the new Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince film. I, myself, am an avid fan of the Harry Potter franchise. I thought I would post the newest trailer for the upcoming film directed by David Yates. It looks a bit dark but the movie shall be pretty amazing.

What would you do if you used to be the leader of your country and were no longer? Former Malaysian Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohammad, decided to raise public awareness of government issues and increase his popularity by creating his own blog, www.chedet.com.

The issues that he discusses are informative yet opinionated and you can really hear the politician’s voice through his writing. Furthermore, he writes in both English and his native tongue in order to attract more viewers.

“I am a dude”

In the wake of the recent historic presidential election, Oregon has jumped on the bandwagon of epic political milestones. In Silverton, Oregon Stu Rasmussen has just been elected as the country’s first ever openly transgender mayor. He made sure to be very open about his sexuality so that his entire campaign could be centered around more important political issues rather than personal secrets. Rasmussen wanted to be equally respected to any other man, “I am a dude… I am a heterosexual man that appears to be a female.” MSNBC reports on the full story.

It’s That Time In November Again

It’s Election Day 2008. I figured we could enjoy some music videos that have been for both Obama and McCain. The first comes from will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas and his song “Yes We Can.” The second music video titled “The Mac is Back” was released from the McCain campaign. They are interesting videos and I thought I could share them with you on this historic day. I Hope you enjoy them.
