Sep 30, 2008 in MISC

Last week one of the greatest actors of our time passed away from cancer. Paul Newman, known for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid along with many other classic films, died while battling cancer. He was not just known for his acting talent but also for his charity work and love of car racing. In 1982, Newman began Newman’s Own, a food products company. He made it a promise that all proceeds would go to charity.

Political Humor or Humorous Politics?

Sep 23, 2008 in Television

With the upcoming election, there has probably been a lot of tension between friends, families, co-workers, and strangers who happen to not share the same political views. As always, Saturday Night Live sees America’s political affairs as a source of entertainment. Tina Fey attempts to bring those tensions straight to the surface through a humorous and satirical skit that depicts the two most talked about women in politics right now.

MTV’s Engine Room

Sep 22, 2008 in Advertising, Television

As specialists in a highly fragmented creative arena, many companies seek The Brand Gallery for its ability to deliver effective marketing solutions to some of the world’s most recognized brands.

With that said, it should come as no surprise the Greenwich Village company attracts young talent like Jaehyuck (Jay) Lee, whose gift for graphic design earned him a spot on the new show, Engine Room.

A new project by MTV, mtvU and Hewlett-Packard, Engine Room will place four teams representing Europe, Latin America, North America and Asia-Pacific together, chronicling their teamwork and creative processes while competing for a $400k cash prize.

With hopes of fostering digital creativity from the world’s young designers, Engine Room has a lot to offer. Just as an appearance on the show presents a great opportunity for young designers like Jay to gain international exposure in a highly competitive industry, Engine Room presents Hewlett-Packard with a similar scenario. As the “main character” on MTV’s newest reality show, HP has stepped up its game with this super-saturated breed of branded entertainment. No doubt a creative (and expensive) marketing strategy.

It’s Showtime!!

Sep 21, 2008 in Television

dexterwired6.pngShowtime has been a powerhouse in the last few years. It has been cranking out quality shows (Weeds, Dexter, Californication, etc.) and it seems like Showtime cannot be stopped.

Up next is the third season of Dexter. The coolest thing the network has done to promote the show, which begins its next season September 28th, is run fake magazine covers like the one below. These fake magazines have been popping up all over newsstands.
